The states of Mato Grosso, Goiás and Bahia, the main cotton producers in the country, had a 42% reduction in the export product this semester compared to the same period last year.

The price of lint cotton has returned to lift the domestic market. The reason for this is the low availability of the product, even in time of finalizing the harvesting and processing of the 2009/10 harvest, which is already at 82.4%.

According to the survey, all regions of Mato Grosso have registered a significant fall in productivity, with the greatest losses are occurring in the western region.
